On February 14, 2009 my second mom, Chieko Tyagi Teraoka, passed on to a new life. I was unaware of her illness and unfortunately never got to express, to her, how much she meant to me and how big a part of my life she was. Yoko, Naoto, Kensuke and I grew up together about 10 houses away in San Francisco. Naoto and I are are the same age and attended school together as well as participated in Judo. I was constantly at their home and Chieko always welcomed me and fed me as if I was her own. She looked out for me as well and made sure I did the right thing even later in life after school. I've learned, recently, of the many challenges she faced during those times and yet she always, gladly, seemed to have time for me. It gives me great solace to know that she found true happiness at the Ashram with the love of her life, Purusha. After spending several days at this beautiful remote location in Virginia, with the wonderful people whom surrounded her, I can see why she loved it so much there. Chieko, thank you for being there for me. I will treasure those times forever. I love you mommy!
